Christmas Season

Christmas is such a busy time!  It is nice to have a basket filled with holiday books to relax and cuddle with.  Bear Stays Up For Christmas by Karma Wilson is a favorite of ours!  The book has adorable illustrations that make you just love Bear.  The kids always comment how Jane Chapman has Bear winking, trying to stay awake.  We have been practicing our winks!

Bear Stays Up For Christmas teaches about friendship and working together.  Bear makes his friends smile by decorating and getting ready for Christmas.  It is definitely a book that gets you excited for this special time of year!

Let’s Create

After reading, we created marshmallow bears with ingredients we had in the pantry!  Easy and delicious is what we were going for!  It was a last minute thought, so we pretty much grabbed whatever worked!

      Materials

  • toothpicks
  • chocolate chips (mini and regular)
  • mini marshmallows
  • regular marshmallows
  1. Heat a handful of chocolate chips in the microwave for 30 seconds at a time.  Keep checking and putting in again for 30 seconds until the chips are melted.
  2. While that is melting, cut a mini marshmallow in half.  (This will part of the nose.)
  3. When the chocolate (glue)  is melted, use a toothpick to glue the half mini marshmallow onto the large marshmallow for the nose.
  4. Glue a regular sized chocolate chip onto the half marshmallow.  The nose is complete.
  5. Glue two mini chocolate chips for eyes.
  6. Take two mini marshmallows and glue them on the outside of the big marshmallow as ears.

** White chocolate would be great as glue because you would not see it as much but use what you have! **
